As you all know, SYTExperience did an awesome trip to Thailand. This is the first of many posts about it. Believe me, we have a lot of cool, funny, tasty stuff to share with you. Today you can check the first of two posts we'll create about a Cooking class we took at the Cooking@Home-Chiangmai school. You can check them out at their Website, Facebook and TripAdvisor. It was a great day! Check it out bellow... |
Shopping for food in Chiang Mai's local "Sansai" or "Samyak Market"
Ok... there are 3 things you are going to find a LOT in Thailand: "WATs" (or Temples), Water (Sea, rivers, Klongs, swamps...) and Markets of all kinds: Food markets, Night markets, night Bazaars, Weekend markets... you name it...
And if you get tired of seeing "WATS" or even the beautiful Ocean landscapes, believe me when I say:
You WONT EVER get tired of experiencing Thai Markets!!!
There's just sooo... much things to do, see and taste...
This one placed a few kilometers from Chiang Mai it's called the "Sansai" Market, but local people just call it "Samyak" market, which means T junction road and we went there to do the shopping for our Cooking class.
Check out some of the things we found there:

Help... My fish is alive and it's getting away...
We can find any type of food there, cooked, raw... or even alive...lol:
Vegetables, fruit, sweets, clothing... everything could be found in this market...
So remember, if you are planing to travel to Thailand (which you should) make sure you include a visit to one (or more) local markets in your itinerary. It's worth the time even if you don't buy a thing... simply wonder around the colorful corridors, feel the different smells and enjoy the people's smiles. Do that, and you will find yourself smiling to...
And for me that's the pinnacle of a Travel Experience, finding yourself smiling with no apparent reason...
And no... you are not crazy... just happy!
