The Algarve is the second best known place in Portugal after Lisbon, but in terms of fun and entertainment, it's probably number one.

So as long as you're not travelling with children, my advise it's to simply go for a cheap hotel, and spend your money on food, amusement parks, water-sports and other activities.
We did a really cool trip on the Santa Bernarda Pirate Ship, a boat that was restored like an old Portuguese Caravel.
A completely different perspective of Algarve: the view from the sea, to the ravines, caves and beaches on the seashore.
Despite the seasickness, I have to say it was totally worth it. Don't you think?
